Double Trouble
To complement the release of the Class of 99 expansion, the Double Trouble event was announced. Special mini-posters were created to enhance tourney play. The poster text was revealed 11/19/2002 and 11/26/2002. The images themselves were also released on 11/26/2002.
(please note the card designations were mirror reversed on the card themselves)
P991 - Doppelgangland Part 1 (Episode Card)
P992 - Doppelgangland Part 2 (Episode Card)
Additionally, the following rules were added to the website to clarify the play of the Double Trouble tournament.
- First, Double Trouble events revolve around the two new virtual Episode Cards, Doppelgangland Part 1 & 2. You can download these either in jpeg or PDF format.
- When it comes to Episode Cards, normally, you may only have one Part 1 in play at a time. With "Double Trouble", we're starting off each and every game with "Doppelgangland, Part 1" as if it were already in play.
- This "background" Episode does not count toward each player's "one Part 1 at a time" limit, and is in effect for every game played.
- When the Target of the Part 1 of Doppelgangland is reached by a player, that player is considered to have moved the Part 1 card to their Crypt, and it counts as a card in there. The players for that game immediately gain the Result of the Part 2. If the Part 2 is Cancelled, the Part 2 also enters their Crypt and neither player gains the benefits of the Episode.

A tournament event was announced to emulate the popular VotW tourneys, with a twist. A list of possible hero essenses were posted on the BTVSCCG website, and visitors to the site were asked to vote on which cards they wanted to see.

Contained within the HOTW CRD were rules discussing Virtual Ascension of a card to it's virtual L2. Given as an example was the L2 of Ethan Rayne. On 2/11/2003, it was revealed the L2 to this card was hidden somewhere on the BTVSCCG webite.

Wizard World Chicago
On August 1, 2003, the text for the latest H/VotW were released, with a challenge. Players were challenged to design the acutal card images for the text provided. Judging would occur at Wizard World Chicago, and it was possible that the winning designs would become the card images. On November 18th, the winning graphics for the Veruca cards were displayed. The winner was the board poster rogue_eight. No entries were submitted for Luke or Sid, and they will be included in the 'Broken Links' project.
VotW18 - Veruca (Essense)
VotW19 - Veruca (Level 1)
VotW20 - Luke (Essense)
HotW16 - Sid (Essense)
Regarding Sid's essense power, the whole replacing thing in Sid’s text means that you cannot use the effects of Empty Puppet case and neither can your opponent. You can still use Empty Puppet case for the requirements on challenges, however. This was revealed on the Score site here.
Wizard World Arlington
The first cards for the Broken Link project were released to co-incide with WW Texas on 11/20/2003. The winners of the Grand Patrol got to design cards.
Broken Links Project
Message board discussions about 'broken links' (cards that refer to cards or actions that don't exist) prompted Score to develop virtual cards to resolve these broken links. On October 10th, a rough listing of the cards was released. On December 23rd, the broken link cards were made available.
- 8 Orphaned Level 1’s: Of course, this represents a good portion of the cards we are going to serve up electronically. Good Spike, Kathy, Harmony, Anya, Riley, Maggie Walsh, Adam and Tara.
- 2 College Locations: UC Sunnydale Commons has got to connect to something, correct? Well, you will be able to add Buffy’s Dorm Room and Riley’s Frat House to said connection.
- 1 Initiative Base: (Insert Joke about leading the Empire to their Hidden Rebel Base here). A military base with and express elevator to a Frat house, what more could you ask for?
- 1 Undead Character: Let’s face it, Jack O’Toole needs a li’l more than just Pat to get his mojo working. Other than that, he would need to be an Ampata Deck. So, we are going to put forth another Undead character, that for now will remain a mystery. Ooooooohhh, a mystery…
- 1 Initiative Vampire: Riley’s Essence talks about Vampires with the Initiative trait, but no such animal exists…yet. Who will be the Vamp? Well here’s a hint, David Eckhard here of The Crew isn’t the only one to carry the nickname, “Chippy.”
- 1 Dark Willow Essence: The card “Bored Now” makes mention of Dark Willow and so now, Presto, here she will be in all her raven-haired, vein-y majesty.
- 1 Dark Willow Level 1: See the previous item
- 1 Proactive with Pep: You know all those weird traits that have been circulating around, that had no use? Well here they turn into super fly TNT rocketfuel.
On November 20th, it was revealed there would be 21 BL cards. The 8 orphaned Essenses, and 13 additional cards. Four blank cards were displayed without text, since the winners at WW Texas would provide the game text. I have numbered these cards 18 - 21 until actual numbers are revealed.
